Eric Nightengale Dramaturg

Eric is the co-artistic director of Anthropological Theatricals, and a founding member of Concrete Temple Theatre in New York City and The Acme Corporation in Baltimore. He served as artistic director of 78th Street Theatre Lab from 1995 thru 2008.  New York credits include work with Circle Repertory Theatre, The Acting Company, Circle in the Square, Cherry Lane Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, 45 Bleecker, The Barrow Group, HERE, and Classic Stage Company.  Eric has served as Artistic Director for Actors Repertory Theatre in Chicago and as Associate Artistic Director for the Developing Artists Series at the Drama League of New York, developing work at the New Harmony Project, the Sewanee Writers Conference, Drop Forge & Tool, Telluride Playwrights Festival, and the Last Frontier Theatre Conference. Radio drama credits include work broadcast nationally over NPR affiliate stations, and in the UK over BBC channel 4. His work at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe has resulted in three Fringe First awards, eight published scripts, four adaptations for BBC radio, two Best Ensemble awards, and a London transfer.

Kate Berman Assistant Dramaturg

Katie is an actor, director, teacher, and theater maker based in New York City.  As a performer, she has developed work and performed with Gorilla Repertory Theater, Know Theatre of Cincinnati, Kentucky Repertory Theatre, and Shakespeare on the Sound, among others.  As an educator, Kate teaches both drama and calculus and has developed after-school drama programs for organizations including Sanctuary for Families, a center dedicated to the safety and healing of victims of domestic violence.  Kate currently creates theater for social change with female veterans.  She has trained at PA Governor’s School for the Arts, the Accademia dell’Arte in Arrezzo, Italy, and, of course, at Stagedoor Manor.  She graduated from Yale University where she studied Theater and Cognitive Science.

Lawrence Lesher Acting Instructor

Lawrence is the Associate Director of Theatrical Programming at Stagedoor Manor and a proud resident director there for the past 8 years.  Lawrence has free-lanced as a director and an actor at theatres all over the country.  Some favorite directing credits include The Foreigner (Thin Air Theatre), King Charles III” (Stagedoor Manor), Unnecessary Farce (Theatre Winter Haven), and 39 Steps (Millbrook Playhouse).  Acting credits include the national tours of Annie (Troika) and Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) (Windwood Productions), Rounding Third (San Luis Obispo Rep), The Foreigner (TGAM), The King and I (Arrow Rock Lyceum), and Million Dollar Quartet (Roxy Regional Theatre).  Lawrence has acted/directed/traveled in all 50 states and 39 countries, but is proud to call NYC and Queens his home.

Rob Scharlow

Artistic Director  

As a member of the Stagedoor Manor family for 11 years, Rob is currently Director of Education/Resident Director for this top theatrical training center. Hailing from the Midwest, his career has taken him across the country working as a freelance director & actor.

Quinn served as Creative Assistant on the Broadway production of Dear Evan Hansen at The Music Box Theatre. Proud graduate of University of Michigan – BFA, Directing and Stagedoor Manor alum.
